About Maceli's
Maceli's is located at 1031 New Hampshire, just a block away from the Downtown Lawrence Parking Garage and the Lawrence Arts Center. Our facility has a state-of-the-art kitchen and banquet space to accommodate groups of 25-400. Our location includes a private dining room for groups of up to 75 and a party room that can seat up to 400.
Maceli's has been catering in Lawrence since 1995. In addition to hosting events at our banquet hall located at 1031 New Hampshire, we cater events of all sizes at most of the major venues in the area. We look forward to helping you with your next event, whether it's at our place or yours!
Tasting Parties
Maceli’s invites our prospective clients to attend tasting parties throughout the year. This is a great opportunity to sample several of our popular appetizers, entrees, side dishes, and house wine during a relaxed dinner buffet. The first tasting party you attend is complementary for two guests. There is a fee for additional guests. We require reservations for this event, so please contact our sales department at 785-331-2096 ext. 102 or 103 for upcoming tasting party dates and to reserve seating for your group.

Maceli’s History
While a graduate student at KU, I was the Director of Grace Pearson Scholarship Hall for five years. Part of my responsibilities involved planning three meals a day, seven days a week for the fifty hall residents. I ordered the food and organized daily kitchen functions which were performed by the students. After five years of quantity cooking, I began using my skills to help a few of my struggling classmates with their wedding catering. At one of those receptions I was introduced to Mrs. Ekdahl, for whom Mrs. E’s is named. I was very flattered when she asked me for a business card. One thing led to another and I ended up squeezing Hospitality Management classes at Johnson County into my already busy life as a Ph.D. student in Slavic Languages and Literatures.
Five years later, I built my first commercial kitchen at 1119 Massachusetts St. and was added to the approved caterers list at the KU Alumni Association. A year later I was selected to be the in-house caterer at the new SpringHill Suites in the Riverfront Plaza. In 2004, Maceli’s moved from that little commercial kitchen to its present location at 1031 New Hampshire. Although we were only searching for a larger kitchen, we ended up with a space that we transformed into a contemporary banquet hall. Since then Maceli’s has become the most popular private caterer in Lawrence. Our company strives to be the best combination of food, service, price and venue in Lawrence, and we believe we are.
